Integrated Rural And Agricultural Development Society(IRADS)

In 1994, IRADS registered as a Non –Government, Non- Profitable and Voluntary Organization under the Karnataka Society Registration Act 1960.Our organization works as both grass root organizations, observes, researches the processes and impacts, and disseminates the knowledge skills as a resource organization. We have a wide ranging experience in working with Central and State Governments, World Bank aided projects in watersheds, women and rural entrepreneurship. It is well networked with local, regional organizations. As SHPI, we have an out-reach to more than one lakh households in 3 districts of Karnataka in the dry land belt having a maximum incidence of poverty and have collaborated with forums like SLBC-Karnataka, major banks like NABARD, SBI, KVGB, ICICI BANK, Syndicate Bank and Canara Bank etc.

OUR VISION

We envision developed, self-sustainable rural societies who have the capability to provide all round facilities.

OUR MISSION

Currently we operate in 4 districts of Karnataka covering about 80,000 families, and aim to reach 5 Lakh families by 2020. We aim at scaling our operations to the entire district of Karnataka state and gradually to nearby states enabling us to reach 2 Million families in the coming decade.

ACTIVITIES

Jala Savanrdhana Yojana Sagha ( JSYS) Project

JSYS handled in Shimogha District, Sorabha Taluka, Shikaripura and Anavatti in 34 Villages. This Project is with an outlay of around INR/- 3.0 crore during 2011 and 2012 (2 years). This is a World Bank Assisted Project of Government of Karnataka. We provided its service as a Field NGO for promotion of the Land Treatment Work like Construction of TUGs Tanks, Strengthening of bounds, Borewell recharge pits, Waste Weir, DE situation, RC lining worked.

Sujala Watershed Development Project

Major Project handled is Sujala with an outlay of Rs. 4.10 crore during 2007 and 2008 (2 years). This is a World Bank Assisted Project of Government of Karnataka. We provided its service as a Field NGO for promotion of the Land Treatment Work like Forum pond, Check dam, Borewell recharge pit, Agro forestry, for Executive Committees in Mannangi sub watersheds covering Haveri Districts. Since 1998, IRADS has been implementing this project with World Bank assisted Villages, with the majority of Landless and Marginal farmers of 3400 Families, of Savanur Taluk.

OBJECTIVES OF IRADS

To work towards upliftment of the rural poor.

To organize marginalized community around their issues, make them responsible and facilitate the process of development. Our focus group includes minorities, women, and bonded children, and landless and other marginalized people.

To organize the local poor to utilize locally available natural and human resources for progress.

Introduce gainful sustainable means for development of agriculture, and encourage farm sector and the non-farm sector activities.

To blend morality, integrity, discipline and religion in the process of development.

To facilitate to get education, health, employment and livelihood opportunities and participation of community and village development programs to become a self sufficient.

To involve local community in planning, implementation and management of local resources like Forest, Tanks, Common Land Etc.,

To improve Health and Sanitation, Awareness on Preventive Health, Mother and Child care, Awareness on HIV/AIDS and other disorders of health.
