Krishna Janmashtami

Krishna Janmashtami, also known as Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, is a significant Hindu festival celebrated with great enthusiasm in India. It marks the birth of Lord Krishna, a revered deity in Hinduism and a symbol of divine love and wisdom. The festival falls on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the month of Bhadrapada on the Hindu lunar calendar, usually in August or September. Devotees fast, sing devotional songs, and participate in dramas depicting key events from Lord Krishna's life, particularly his childhood exploits. Temples and homes are adorned, and a clay pot of curd or butter is hung high as part of the traditional "Dahi Handi" celebration, where young enthusiasts form human pyramids to break the pot. The day is filled with joy, devotion, and celebrations, highlighting Krishna's significance in Hindu culture.
