Swathi Vaazhga Valamudan Welfare Association

The Association emerged as one of the leading organizations in the field of Educational, health and economic empowerment of the target communities through women self-help groups.

Its activities in the remote rural areas of Kanchipuram District, Thiruvallur District & Chennai District with its awareness campaign, Skill Training, Micro Finance, Environment Programme, Health and Educational Programme.

Swathi Vaazhga Valamudan Welfare Association envisions a society wherein all people will have equal rights and access to protected Educational, health and Environment improved income status without gender discrimination.

OUR MISSION

Swathi Vaazhga Valamudan Welfare Association will function as an NGO for promoting overall improvement of the rural, urban, coastal and tribal population in India thus working for the empowerment of the target communities especially the women, children and the marginalized sector.




Our Programs

Legal Awareness Programme for tribals

During the past we have found the subject “Legal Awareness” was very much needed for the poor and middle class families. People had come to know about our legal awareness programme and this year more number of beneficiaries participated in our legal awareness programme. People especially women do not have courage to take issues to the court. They lack knowledge whether to take their problems to court, the cost and time involved for litigation, about the free legal aid available to the needy and so on. In such a scenario our legal awareness programme has come to their help. Even the very awareness of various legislations, acts and rules will embolden them to tackele their problem bravely and give a helping hand in arriving at solutions.

Formation of Self Help Groups

This is national bank Project “Swathi Vazhga Valamudan Welfare Association” formed 325 women self help groups in 45 villages “Swathi Vazhga Valamudan Welfare Association” initially motivated and promoted savings among the member. Each group has a membership of 20, each member savings of Rs.200/- per month which is deposited in the local nationalized bank. The interest these SHGS will also involve in the community decision making process and involve fully in the globalised of the village. So “Swathi Vazhga Valamudan Welfare Association” is fully responsible repayment and SHGS economic developments.

Tailoring Training for tribals

Our Tailoring training was well utilized by the young unemployed women. Since they are almost no employable skills apart from their academic learning they took up or free tailoring training to enhance their income earning capacity. This training is providing good tailoring skills to the deserving beneficiaries. The salary for the tailoring training trainers as provided through public donations. The tailoring machine were hired. Free tailoring materials were provided to the trainees. The trainers are working hard and achieving good results for a nominal remuneration. Certificates were given to the employed in garment units. Some have taken up providing tailoring service from their home as a self employment enterprise

Consumer awareness camp

Consumer awareness camp the predominant tool for consumer development has been made use by “Swathi Vazhga Valamudan Welfare Association” to kindly or awaken the sleeping consumer society to think, ponder over individual and community development we accepted and followed the methodology to awaken the society through awareness camps. 5 camps of such type of consumer awareness camps were conducted with the support and guidance of network NGOs nearly 235 beneficiaries have participated and benefited. The camps costs were partly borne by the members way of traveling allowances.

World AIDS Awareness Programme

This year World Aids awareness programme was conducted by our organization with the participation youth. Speakers spoke about various aspect of AIDS prevention and how the patients should be treated by society. Those youth from the audience who shown keen knowledge about the Aids awareness were given prizes as a recognition of their levels.

Leadership Training

We conducted leadership training to women self help group members. In this programme many speakers spoke about acquiring leadership skills and the women SHG members who participated in the leadership training programme benefitted very much.

World Women’s Day Celebrations

Our organization celeberated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2019. We conducted various competitions and distributed prizes to the winners. This program was held at Adambakkam. The program was organized by SVV with the support of women SHG’s Ms.P.Swathiya, President – SVV were the chief guests. The program was  Mrs.P.Leelavathi – Social activist. Welcome address given by Mr.A.Kumar – President IPDA
