Vishala Rural women and Children Development Organization

Vishala works for improving the lives of people belonging to marginalized communities in society in Karnataka

Vishala has been working towards rural community development for 30 years and believes that sustainable management of natural resources is key to improved livelihoods, sustainable agricultural development, and maintaining ecological balance. Major focus areas of Vishala are on Rural/agriculture development and Women empowerment and has been able to impact more than 2 lakh beneficiaries in Vijayapura and Belgaum districts in Karnataka. Our strategy is to raise socio-economic levels for rural communities through a demand-led service and convergence model involving livelihood & skill development. Vishala is working for promoting sustainable agriculture, by encouraging organic farming, and guiding marginalized farmers to practice natural farming and employ alternative eco-farming practices for enhanced yields at reduced costs.

Support for the educating 4000 adults in surrounding villages of Vijayapura

Problem: Uneducated in brief, illiteracy is a major roadblock for the development and often results in discouraging or disempowerment of communities, especially in rural areas. They cannot read any signs, health warnings or obtain any important values which they should get through government services/schemes. As the communities are illiterates, they don't know the importance of their child education causing maximum school dropouts. Our Intervention/Action Plan: Adult literacy is the only tool to remove illiteracy from society. Adult education can be categorized under fundamental education, mass education of people, basic education, community education in order to educate the people at a different level. We use software developed structures to provide effective sessions and follow the strategies to make learning more experiential.

Our Impact

It is the small change that makes the biggest impact.
