About Us

Sri Rural Development Society (SRDS)

Sri Rural Development Society (SRDS) is a non-governmental organization established in 2009 in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana.
Regardless of physical or cognitive challenges, we are committed to creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities, promoting a more inclusive workforce, and empowering individuals to thrive in their careers.
Our objectives are:
To empower the poor and the most deprived communities through initiatives on access to quality education, promoting child rights, supporting PwDs, health, nutrition, skills & livelihood development, women empowerment, and creating awareness and facilitating linkages to the rights and entitlements.

Our Programs

Child Rights Protection

Towards promoting the rights of the children, SRDS has initiated the “Child Reporters” program in 20 Schools of Khammam District where the children have been formed into groups and trained to report their issues through the publication of “Weekly Wall Magazine”. In this program, 40 Children have been trained as “Child Reporters” and are actively bringing out their issues to the notice of concerned authorities and getting them addressed. 

Skill Development and Livelihoods

We organized the Entrepreneurship Skill Development Program (ESDP), 600 youth from families below the poverty line have been successfully trained in two-wheeler maintenance & repairing, mobile phone repairing, fashion designing, artificial jeweler making, motor rewinding, pump sets repairing,  electrical gadgets repairing and house wiring. As a result of ESDP training, 38% of the trained youth have taken up self-employment and 42% have been employed in various service sectors.  

Interventions in HIV/AIDS

SRDS successfully runs doorstep HIV detection in rural areas of Khammam through awareness campaigns & counseling. We have covered 4 mandals of Khammam district and screened 3500 high-risk groups and general people.

Entrepreneur Development Program tailored for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)

A transformative initiative aimed at unlocking entrepreneurial potential and fostering economic independence. Through specialized training, mentorship, and resources, we empower PWDs to launch and manage their businesses successfully. Together, let's break barriers and create a world where every individual, regardless of ability, can thrive as an entrepreneur.

Inauguration Program

We organized an Inauguration Program for the Academic Activity and Learning Centre in Khammam. 29 children and 6 teachers participated in the program.

Entrepreneur Development Program

We conducted an Entrepreneur Development Program tailored for individuals with disabilities from December 20th to December 30th, 2023. Through specialized training sessions and mentorship, participants were equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to start and manage their own businesses. The program focused on fostering entrepreneurship among people with disabilities, providing them with tools for economic independence and self-sufficiency. By addressing specific challenges and offering tailored support, the initiative aimed to empower participants to overcome barriers and thrive as entrepreneurs in their respective communities.

Say No Plastic Program

We initiated a plastic prevention program in rural areas to address environmental concerns. Through community engagement and awareness campaigns, they educated villagers about the adverse effects of plastic pollution and promoted sustainable alternatives. Volunteers conducted clean-up drives and facilitated the adoption of eco-friendly practices. By empowering local residents to reduce plastic usage, the program aimed to mitigate environmental degradation and promote a cleaner, healthier ecosystem in rural areas.

Entrepreneur Development Program

We have organized an Entrepreneur Development Program in Khammam, Telangana, focused on fostering sustainable livelihoods for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). The comprehensive training, conducted from 11/12/23 to 20/12/23, was designed to equip PWDs with the skills and knowledge needed to initiate and effectively run their businesses. Our aim is to empower participants to overcome barriers and thrive as entrepreneurs, contributing to their economic independence and societal inclusion.

Margadharshi Workshop

A Margadharshi Workshop was conducted on 08-12-2023 at Rythu Vedika, Kusumanchi, Khammam District, Telangana. So far 29 PwDs benefitted from this workshop.

Inaugural Ceremony of RLM

The Rural Livelihood Mission Team (RLM), is an initiative of Enable India. In collaboration with Enable India, we organized the RLM launch event. The program aims to work for the livelihood of people with disabilities. District Welfare Officer Suma was present as the chief guest in the program.

Financial and Digital Literacy Camp

Financial and Digital Literacy Camp, proudly organized by our NGO for school children of Laxidevipally, Telanaga.
We covered the following topics:
Budgeting, saving, and key skills to invest wisely.
Navigate the digital landscape with confidence, understanding online safety and digital responsibility.
Engage in activities, workshops, and expert-led sessions designed to equip you for the future.

International Day of Disabled Persons

On the occasion of world disability day, we have organized a consultation with govt departments, NGOs, parent groups, and community leaders on disabled rights and entitlements. Totally 345 PWDs have actively participated and raised their concerns.

World Health Day

On the occasion of World Health Day, we distributed masks and sanitizers in different areas bus stands, vegetable markets, and auto stands. So far we have reached more than 1500 people through this activity.
